In depth

Verdict

Vingis Park can step up on his promising debut to beat Special Conquest, with Gold Again perhaps one to note. Vingis Park, a son of Old Vic, shaped really well on his introduction over the course and distance and should improve enough to score in what is not the strongest of races. Special Conquest has a penalty to overcome for his fast ground success over track and trip in April, and although he is expected to go close, is worth taking on. The market should be watched for any springers among the newcomers, especially Gold Again. Noel Chance had a winner in better company than this at Newbury on Sunday, so his five-year-old, another progeny of Old Vic, may reach the frame at least. These contests are invariably guessing games, but on what Vingis Park showed last time, he is worth chancing in the finale.
