The second division of these seven furlong maidens and preference is for ANACREON whose dam made a winning debut; fellow newcomers African Art, Kirkson and Royal Bet make it to the shortlist. John Gosden's horses continue in good form and this expensive son of Dansili is fancied to score at the first time of asking, with the market likely to point the way. Royal Bet is a son of Montjeu but is more likely to be seen to best effect after this experience and may be one for next year, whilst Nbhan should improve greatly on his first run. Royal Willy and Cooper Island Kid will be qualified for handicaps after this run, so of more interest may be African Art and Hilbre Point who give Brian Meehan two darts at the bull's-eye. Captain Dancer was nibbled at in the betting on his debut in a hot maiden but was a bit of a no-show; he remains capable of much better. The market may play a big part in any betting strategy here, however without that information we will take a chance on Anacreon. (Nick Doggett)
