Darkening has been progressing with each run and carries a penalty for last week's victory at Yarmouth under Mickael Barzalona, who rides him here in preference to Authorship, though it was Silvestre De Sousa who was on board the latter for his debut success at Haydock. Kieren Fallon made all the running on Royal Skies when Mark Johnston's colt scored over 1m1f at Epsom where he was tiring in the closing stages so this trip should prove ideal. In fourth place that day after getting a poor run was FELIX FABULLA, who gained compensation when sent over 1m2f at Bath, landing some decent wagers in the process. He's on an upward curve and from his lowly spot in the handicap might just be good enough to follow up. Hoarding was caught in the closing stages by Rising Legend at Doncaster and this doesn't look any easier but Red Avenger looked to be crying out for a mile when coming with a late rattle over 7f at Doncaster.
