There is not too much form to go on here and so we will concentrate on the newcomers Forefathers and Saloon, with the first named getting the verdict, while Many Volumes looks to be the best of the experienced runners. Michael Bell's son of Gone West cost $600,000 as a yearling and is obviously held in high regard as his entries in the Champagne Stakes and Dewhurst testify. The stable is capable of having one ready first time out and as long as he doesn't drift dramatically in the betting he looks the one to be on. Sir Michael Stoute's Saloon was also an expensive purchase and has a pedigree to match. The stable's juvenile's have been slow to come to hand but he is still worth a look in the betting. Many Volumes made a very pleasing debut here last month when a close up third to the smart Kalgoorlie. He should come on for the run and looks the obvious form horse. However this could be an above average maiden and Forefathers could be an above average colt so gets our vote.
