A manageable field can be led home by Prairie Falcon, who has already proved that he retains plenty of ability and enthusiasm for racing, and he may be too resilient a character for Valance and Ravenglass if this develops into a scrap for the line. Whereas Astrocharm and Sir Hayden have yet to win at this sort of trip and come into the race with a little to prove at this level. Out of the rest, Dovedon Hero has claims on the pick of last season's form and will merit a second look if supported before the off. However, he has a little to find with the selection on course and distance form of last month and needs to post a much improved display to figure this afternoon. Therefore, it may be best left to the proven staying power of Prairie Falcon as he at least can be relied upon to give his all. The ten-year-old is an effective weight carrier that acts on most types of ground. Today's conditions should play to his strengths though and he is has too much in his favour to ignore as he bids for a tenth career win if all goes right for him today.
