MOGOK RUBY, third in the 'greys' race over the course last time, is a speculative selection to land this wide open handicap where a whole host of dangers can be cited including the unexposed Without Prejudice, Royal Island and Johannes. Mogok Ruby has been lightly raced throughout the summer months having had a busy spell throughout last winter. He has in the past burst blood vessels which is a concern but his run last time was a big improvement and a near career best effort. Royal Island has been the subject of some attempted gambles - a couple successful in the past and was noted staying on last time from an unpromising position at Redcar. He was away from where the action unfolded at Redcar and appears well handicapped from a mark of 73. Without Prejudice basically had a walkover at Lingfield last time and prior to that had been well supported to land what appeared strong maidens. Johannes has only got one win to his name but drying conditions will be all in his favour. Wyatt Earp and Resplendent Alpha are others with very solid form. The last named will relish the fast pace that is likely to materialise but Mogok Ruby could well be the value bet in the race and he is nominated to land the opener.
