Saunter was cleverly placed by Ian Williams to land a French conditions contest last month, prior to which he'd finished in mid-division in a competitive Royal Ascot handicap behind Dash Of Spice. He remains on a good mark and is tempting but the concession of 11lb to SLEEPING LION may just prove too much. James Fanshawe's colt looks a progressive type and should have more to give after a mere five starts. His form profile reads well and he looked a little unlucky when a close third in his hat-trick bid at Ascot last month as he was given plenty to do. Sofia's Rock has been far from disgraced in competitive handicap company on recent starts and worth a place on the short-list as this looks rather more straightforward than recent ventures.
