Fire Brigade was one of the market leaders in last month’s Lincoln but was well beaten along with Withernsea and much better is expected here. Brilliant Vanguard also struggled in the Spring Mile at Doncaster but is not badly treated if at his best while CONSTANTINO won at Lingfield before running well again in a tough handicap at Wolverhampton recently. Allowed to race off a 6lb lower mark back on the Turf, Richard Fahey’s charge gets the vote. Examiner, The Warrior and Isomer are others with recent form on the all-weather while the returning Mafaaheem is preferred to Almoreb by Jim Crowley though the latter has the winning form over today’s trip. Plutonian and Chiefofchiefs also have a shout in a wide-open contest as they return to action.
