slowly into stride, held up, ridden and headway over 2f out, soon one pace
held up, not trouble leaders
close up, chased winner 6f out until 1f out, one pace final furlong
chased winner 4f, soon tailed off
held up, headway over 2f out, chased winner 1f out, kept on same pace
made all, clear over 4f out, ridden and stayed on gamely final furlong
held up, weakened over 1f out, soon eased
Little separating the principals in a tight betting heat and marginal preference is for Brilliant Red while Northside Lodge and Peace rate as the main dangers. Jamie Poulton's charge is now well in to the veteran stage of his racing career but has shown that he retains plenty of enthusiasm for the game and put up a particularly good effort when narrowly failing to catch a useful yardstick over this course and distance late last month. The 10-year-old remains well treated on the pick of his form and is taken to swoop late under Ian Mongan. Northside Lodge is not the easiest to predict but has strong claims on a close second in similar company at Leicester last time out. The James Fanshawe yard continues in excellent form and the well-bred Peace opened her account in pleasing fashion at Nottingham last time. The Sadler's Wells filly is open to plenty of improvement but Brilliant Red has the form in the book and can take the honours.
