In depth

Verdict

With 19 runners to choose from the luckiest of pins might prove to be the best solution for trying to find the winner of the Showcase handicap. Topweight Pinchbeck comes here in better form than most, having won four out of his last five starts, but has suffered at the hands of the handicapper as a result and may have too much to do under 9st 10lb. James Fanshawe's Frizzante was a ready winner of a Doncaster maiden last time but may find this tougher, while Princes Street has struggled since winning at Windsor in June. There was plenty to like about the success of Jools over course and distance a week ago and under a 6lb penalty he must go close, if in the same form. However, the TEAMtalk vote goes to one of those that were behind him that day namely the Willie Musson-trained Fearby Cross. The son of Unblest was all the rage in the ring beforehand but did not get the clearest of passages in the race and on the better terms, and granted a clear run, he may be able to reverse the form.
