In depth

Verdict

An interesting maiden that can go to Clipperdown, whose yard have hit form at the right time for this and he is preferred over Kauri Forest and Pinching out of those with previous experience. Obviously the market should be monitored regarding the claims of the newcomers as any of Gentleman's Deal, Royal Lustre and Sea Nymph could be up winning at the first time of asking and moves for any should not be dismissed lightly. Arctic Silk, a well-bred filly that represents Godolphin, is surely better than she showed on her debut and it will be worth noting how she fares over this shorter trip. However, Clipperdown, whose yard have sent out six winners in the last fortnight, really caught the eye when chasing home a nicely bred filly of Barry Hills' a fortnight ago. The way he swept past horses inside the final furlong was very pleasing and Clipperdown, with normal improvement anticipated, will be very hard to beat with only a slightly better effort here.
