The usual cavalry charge in prospect and this year’s edition looks as open as ever. Gilgamesh will be popular given the way he ran when hampered in the Wokingham, and Mubtasim is another to watch on his handicap debut, but MUKALAL could be the answer here. He was keen on his seasonal return in the Royal Hunt Cup but these conditions will suit him perfectly and he looks ready to win. Makzeem will also appreciate the distance, but isn’t well handicapped here, comments which also apply to Shady Mccoy, Masham Star and Mjjack. Spanish City is less exposed than most of his rivals and has each-way claims, along with Firmament and Von Blucher, who are both on handy marks. It would also be no surprise to see Burnt Sugar make the frame dropped back to this trip.
