While not looking a vintage renewal of the July Cup it is still a competitive one with plenty of the 14 runners holding solid claims. Among them are Malhub, Danehurst and Three Points, the first three home in Royal Ascot's Golden Jubilee Stakes. None of that trio will be at their best under the prevailing conditions so this could go to one of the other runners. Aidan O'Brien has swept all before him in English Group 1 races again this season so it would be no surprise to see Landseer, the best of his trio, go close. Misraah is a quirky but able type, while Reel Buddy has done little wrong this term but usually finds at least one too good in this company. A mention should also be given to the two David Nicholls representatives Bahamian Pirate and Continent. Both are more than capable of winning in this company on their day and will be suited by any further rain.
