The confidence of Ashgar Sayyad will have been given a real boost after he finally got off the mark at Newcastle last month. And if it comes to a close finish it can be certain that Tony Culhane will not make a similar error to the one he made at Pontefract on Tuesday. The drop back to a mile last time proved to be ideal for Culhane's mount and the Scotsman has a good opportunity to rekindle the betting public's faith in him. However, it will not be plain sailing for the Mick Channon-trained colt and Krugerrand could well give him plenty to think about. Cal Mac has also shown plenty of promise and and put in very credible efforts in decent handicaps here and at Ascot last month. Wixoe Express and Mamounia are also open to improvement and may provide some value at each way prices.
