Verdict

In a disappointing turnout, the three with racecourse experience have only shown moderate form so it wouldn't be a surprise to see one of the newcomers make a successful debut, and Authority seems to be the obvious choice. Willie Haggas' colt was an expensive purchase, is nicely bred and represents a stable starting to hit top form, so with Kieren Fallon booked he could take all the beating. Keshena Falls hails from a stable not noted for winning with newcomers, but this one isn't badly bred and has the services of Darryl Holland, so watch out for any market support for Rae Guest's filly. Of those with experience, Mick Channon's Jimmy Byrne was unfancied and ran accordingly on his debut at Newbury last month. He is entitled to come on for that run and it would be no surprise if he can at least make the frame in this poor event. However, we'll side with Authority, who could just prove to be a cut above his rivals here.
