The hat-trick seeking Ten Carat has more on his plate than when winning a handicap at Beverley last time and, while there may be more improvement to come from Amanda Perrett's colt, he looks worth opposing with Alkaased, who looks to have been let in lightly for his debut in this grade. The selection lost no caste in defeat behind the subsequent Park Hill runner-up Floreeda in a Yarmouth maiden in July and duly opened his account when making light work of landing a Ripon maiden. A mark of 87 looks very fair for the son of Kingmambo, who is taken to land the finale. Ayr winner Almizan should appreciate the test of stamina but may struggle to give weight away all round, while a place again seems to be the best that perennial bridesmaid Sir Sidney can hope for, especially having been raised 3lbs since his latest defeat. James Fanshawe's runners at this meeting are always worth a second look so Lesath has to be respected along with Henry Cecil's Leicester maiden winner Amalianburg but Alkaased looks well treated on his handicap debut and is the selection.
