Chic is taken to land a blow for the older brigade here, with Attraction and French raider Nebraska Tornado expected to give her most to do. Although this race has been dominated by three-year-olds in recent years, there are reasons to believe that Attraction is worth taking on here. Mark Johnston's 1,000 Guineas heroine lost her unbeaten record the first time she was asked to tackle older opposition and has suffered the same fate on two subsequent starts, admittedly at the highest level. To be fair, she put up a fine effort when second to Soviet Song at Leopardstown, but a long, hard season is sure to take its toll. In contrast, Chic has been brought to the boil at just the right time with this in mind, striking form in the Hungeford Stakes and following up against Nayyir in Goodwood's Celebration Mile. She worked like a dream on Wednesday and it is all systems go for a well-earned crack at this prestigious Group 1 prize. Andre Fabre will have one eye on Sunday's events and the Arc in particular, but the fact that he has taken the trouble to send Nebraska Dream over means that she should not be totally ruled out. However, the ground is likely to prove too fast for her and a place is all that she can hope for at best. The rest are up against it, and in what looks a two-cornered affair, we take Chic to stop Attraction from returning to winning ways.
