The pace will fast and furious in this with Matty Tun and Smokin Beau confirmed front-runners. Overall, though, we like the look of Halmahera, with Colonel Cotton, Vision Of Night and Bali Royal also capable of very good runs. The selection hit the heights for the season when landing his second Portland Handicap in the last three years. As good as ever at the age of eight, Frankie Dettori gets on well with him, and the gelding is fitted with first-time blinkers, which is slightly unusual at his age. Colonel Cotton has tons of ability and looks to have a race of this nature in him. Vision Of Night is frustrating but, again, posses plenty of talent and his third behind subsequent Group 2 winner Acclamation has a good look to it. Bali Royal has held her form well but Kevin Darley, who has won five times on her, has deserted her in favour of Olivia Grace, which has to be a pointer to her chances. A good race lies ahead and, for us, Halmahera can add to his already-excellent season.
