In depth

Verdict

A low draw proved to be ideal for Indian Spark in this race last year and he tagged-on to a blistering pace to to nail them all with half a furlong left to run. This year's renewal has a similar feel to it and Rudi's Pet is equally capable of conceding weight to all in his current frame of mind. There is plenty of pace amongst the lower numbers and he can get a good tow from the likes of Soaked, Proud Boast and Ptarmigan Ridge. As is to be expected there are dangers a-plenty and Boanerges, Maromito and Smart Predator all have the capabilities to figure strongly if the unpredictable nature of the course detracts from the advantage of the draw. However, Salviati is also in flying form at present and his finishing speed could pose Rudi's Pet the biggest danger when they both try to pick up inside the final furlong. Whereas the Handicapper may have finally caught up with Bali Royal after she appeared to have few excuses in defeat last time.
