Godolphin debutante Connotation is taken to beat Daliya and Ticki Tori in this fillies only contest. The boys in blue have had over 50 two-year-old winners this season so it would be no surprise at all if Connotation obliged first time. American-bred, the dam was a sprinter, and at this stage she will only just get the trip in today's ground, but the fact that they have travelled up to run her under today's conditions suggests that she has worked well enough at home. She could be anything and maybe worth chancing first time out. Sir Michael Stoute had a juvenile winner on this card 12 months ago and will try repeat the feat with Daliya, a daughter of Giant's Causeway who has bags of scope but is still very much on a learning curve judged on her two efforts so far at Windsor and Warwick. Blinkered for her debut and visored last time, she hung left on both occasions, and may need the kid-glove treatment here as well. She is well-related, being a half-sister to Daliapour from the same family as Darshaan, so connections will hope to get some black type before she eventually goes to the paddocks. Ticki Tori was unfancied on her York debut but ran really well in staying on from the rear behind Maidanni. However, the latter is a stablemate of Connotation so Saeed bin Suroor will have aline to work on, and without being overly confident, we take the newcomer to prevail.
