Verdict

Phil Kirby's Nightboat To Cairo disappointed when pulled up behind Old Noddy at Hexham on Thursday and looks best left out calculations turned out so quickly with a better bet looking to be BIRCH HILL BEDOUIN, who gets the vote ahead of French Ties. Jennie Candlish's gelding disappointed at Fontwell last month but earlier form this year when winning at Sedgefield and when a good second at Taunton reads well and he has to be respected. Liz's Dream looked beaten before unseating his rider at Sedgefield last time and looks best watched, while Jim Goldie's Too Cool To Fool was well held behind Mister Pete (runs in the 2.50) at Newcastle last time and is hard to recommend. Tim Walford's What's Occurrin is relatively unexposed after just 10 career starts but he remains a maiden and a better bet looks to be Birch Hill Bedouin, who gets the vote. Sue Smith's gelding has only won a bumper so far in his six starts but his first three outings over hurdles were all on testing ground and he ran much better on more suitable going last time so looks worth siding with off what seems a fair mark.
