OVERCOAT stepped up to this trip for the first time at Musselburgh and stayed on nicely to land a novices' handicap. He's up 5lb but can go in again. Kauto D'Amour won a novices' handicap here in January but jumped poorly on his next start at Sedgefield. Dan Skelton's So Lonely won three times on good ground last spring but has struggled in testing conditions this season. Federici hadn't won since 2017 before making all for a shock victory over hurdles at Sedgefield a fortnight ago. He'd been racing at a high level over fences previously and is only 4lb higher. Do Not Disturb, a Kelso maiden winner, ran a shocker when well supported back there in December and has been given a break.
Federici 33-1 (11-12) Made all, ridden after 2 out, ran on well (both hurdles in back straight omitted due to low sun), won at Sedgefield 2m 4f hcp (4) hvy in Mar beating Rare Clouds (11-3) by 2l, 6 ran.
Overcourt 4-6fav (11-4) Tracked leader, led going best when hit 3 out, clear before next, ridden and stayed on well run-in, won at Musselburgh 2m 4f hcp (4) sft in Feb beating Methodtothemadness (11-6) by 3l, 4 ran.
Do Not Disturb (IRE) 7-2cfav (11-1) Chased leaders on inside, weakened before 4 out, pulled up before last, at Kelso 2m 7f hcp (3) sft in Dec.
Burdigala (FR) 50-1 (10-12) Slow 1st, in touch, ridden and dropped to rear after 6th, struggling from next, 7th of 11, 36 1/2l behind Two For Gold (10-12) at Wetherby 2m 5f (4) sft in Dec.
Kauto D'Amour (FR) 2-1 (11-1) Towards rear, headway 5 out, outpaced 4 out, plugged on before last, 4th of 7, 16l behind Oscars Leader (11-7) at Sedgefield 2m 1f hcp (4) hvy in Feb.
Carrigmoorna Matt (IRE) 25-1 (11-12) Bit keen, chased leaders, not fluent and lost place 8th, behind 11th, tailed off and pulled up after 14th, at Sedgefield 3m 2f hcp (4) sft in Jan.
Big Bad Dream (IRE) 11-1 (10-12) Towards rear, slow and ridden 10th, effort after 4 out, no impression, disputing modest 6th when blundered and unseated rider last, at Musselburgh 3m hcp (4) sft in Feb.
So Lonely (IRE) 50-1 (11-9) Always towards rear, well behind 3 out, soon pulled up, at Warwick 2m 5f hcp (4) sft in Mar.
