This is not an easy race on which to get a firm handle but, from a shortlist that contains Mae Cigan, Mormeatmic, King's Revenge, Knife Artist and Baytown Valentina, we will side with Mae Cigan. Mae Cigan has shown fair form in two runs, having attracted money in the second of them. A repeat of the level of his latest run on the all-weather should see him competitive today. Mormeatmic showed some promise behind an easy winner, the useful Strike Up The Band, on his debut, while King's Revenge made late headway on his debut and should improve and confirm the form with Shaydreambeliever, who was just behind him in that race. Ones to watch out for are Castellano, who cost 31,000 guineas, and Pat Haslam's pair, Fitzsimons and Knife Artist, who has plenty of good speed in his blood, although Flying Doctor, a half-brother to Cunning, might need further to show his best. Finally, Baytown Valentina was not beaten far in a fair event at Newmarket on her debut and is another to consider, but the others probably have to find improvement to score. Once again, then, the selection is Mae Cigan.
