From a shortlist that contains Hope Sound, Scurra, Feed The Meter, Compton Eclaire and Royal Melboune, we will side with Hope Sound. The selection has solid enough credentials for this, and based on his run behind Royal Melbourne two runs ago, he is now four pounds better off for two-and-a-half lengths. Given that Royal Melbourne is a course and distance winner who will like the going and is just four pounds above winning mark, he too must hold claims. Also, the selection is slightly better off at the weights based on a recent run with Scurra, who can also be given a chance so, as you can tell, the case for the selection is supportable. The lightly-raced Feed The Meter is a possible if he can get back to his winning form of last summer, while Compton Eclaire won from a slightly higher mark at Warwick last June, so can be given a chance on that basis. Of the others, Sir Night showed a little more last time and it might be worth checking the betting, Saameq can be given a chance for a place, Red River Rebel has no form with give in it, but Perfect Balance won over a mile on soft going from an eight-pound higher mark last April, and is worth a try at today's trip on Turf as he stays it on the all-weather. However, for the winner, we will stay with Hope Sound.
