Viva Volta is narrowly preferred to European Dream and Marmooq. Viva Volta ran out a ready winner despite a poor draw at Beverley and although his draw is not ideal here, he does race up with the pace and can make most. European Dream finished second to Top Shot on reappearance at Nottingham. He appears to give his running on any surface so the market is watched on Monday. Marmooq ran into a good rival at Warwick and should not be long in breaking his duck. That said, his stable are in-and-out at the moment as far as their runners are concerned so a degree of caution is advised. Stainley has been stepped up in trip in recent weeks but hasn't appeared to get home. He looks the sort who might need some more cut in the ground so we shall oppose on this occasion. Kevin Ryan's runners are always respected and the market is watched with regard to Snowberry Hill. The trainer clearly had problems in working out an ideal trip for him last term but the three-year-old does have some scope for improvement. Mystified has little turf form to speak of but Roger Fisher's team are in good order at the moment and it would be no surprise to see the gelding run well. Of the remainder, Capitivate does have course-and-distance form but has shown nothing of note in four recent outings. Viva Volta is clearly going the right way and as a locally trained horse, we will not oppose.
