Belanak, Spell Casting and Abbondanza are the ones to be watching and we shall side with Balanak. Sir Michael Stoute's colt is hardly a groundbreaking selection but he shaped up nicely on debut at Windsor and there certainly doesn't appear to be any more to do on this occasion. Spell Casting was third to Austrian in a maiden at York. The form was given a boost by Kyoto Summit's recent victory but that, as the maiden, were both on soft ground. He has shaped as if this trip should suit so if the market speaks positively, we could be in for a race. Abbondanza finished sixth in that maiden. An expensive purchase, he did not handle the ground but at least Howard Johnson's stable are sending out the winners again. Torgiano finished fourth in a weak maiden at Musselburgh. The form took a real dive last week as second placed, Hams, was turned over at odds-on next time out. Moon Melody ran much better than his finishing position suggested at Lingfield and is at least open to some improvement. Belanak was certainly the most eye-catching on debut and with Sir Michael Stoute having maiden winners all around the country, it is to him that we turn on Monday.
