The culmination of a season of qualifying races and a race that can go the way of JAUNTY FLIGHT at the main expense of Ping Pong Sivola, Lamanver Homerun and Rate Of Knots. All of the field deserve to take their chance here, although Ruby Dante, Tastes Like More and Ceoperk will all struggle due to the presence of Lamanver Homerun and Ping Pong Sivola at the top of the weights. Preference is for Jaunty Flight, a progressive mare from Oliver Sherwood's yard. Her virtual walkover at Carlisle last time proved nothing but her previous win here in January and a consistent level of form since going chasing suggests that she is a major player here. Whereas this race used to a be strong one for favourites, the last four renewals have seen outsiders do well and it would be unwise to rule out horses such as Pyleigh Lady, Amigayle and Shatabdi. Likely to be more prominent in the betting is Ping Pong Sivola. She was only just touched off at the festival by a stablemate and although she looks high enough in the weights, being reunited with Aidan Coleman is no bad thing. Lamanver Homerun will need to forget a heavy fall last time and she has not yet lived up to expectations despite looking destined for success last time; she is also held by Amigayle on a run over hurdles at the end of last year. The progressive Rate Of Knots comes here chasing a hat-trick and her win last time (beat Tastes Like More) was facile; she has more on her plate but cannot be dismissed. The consistent Katess is another for consideration, but her mark of 124 is higher than ones that she struggled off over hurdles. An intriguing contest where we are happy to side with Jaunty Flight.
