Verdict

Al Waab may have needed her first run of the campaign and she can leave that form behind but ROYAL EMPIRE can justify Godolphin's decision to keep him in training. The four-year-old flopped badly on his last start in Dubai and connections have clearly given him plenty of time to get over any ailments that had come to light. Ocean War has seen his racecourse appearances limited by training troubles and he brings 2011 Derby form to the table. A Listed winner at Newmarket prior to his visit to Epsom, he is closely watched in the market. Richard Hughes may have been booked to ride Mobaco with the aim of being a calming influence in the saddle. The Group 3 winner has raced far too keenly to do himself justice on his two British starts. Dick Doughtywylie ran a fair race at Sandown when tried at this level although official figures suggest him as having a bit to find on this occasion.
