Verdict

Silca Soprano is taken to give Mick Channon another winner in this event, with Crystal Gazer taken to give her most to do. With no less than four of the six runners, the Channon stable have a great chance of adding to Flashy Wing's success 12 months ago, and on recent gallops evidence, Silca Soprano could be the one. The daughter of Kyllachy only cost 42,000gns but this half-sister to Keltic Bard has been working extremely well and holds entries in a number of big races later this year. Stablemate Candyland has an entry in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh in August, while Yerevan has been pencilled in for a couple of decent prizes later on. We understand that there are no plans for Sunley Gift just yet but that does not mean that she must be under-estimated either. However, the main stumbling block is likely to be Crystal Gazer, a well regarded sort that has had the benefit of two runs on the all-weather. Richard Hannon's filly will no doubt make her presence felt, but despite this being a bit of a guessing game we shall plump for Silca Soprano.
