Kelamon failed to get back up by the narrowest of margins at Windsor on Monday and, off the same mark today, Mark Usher's gelding can gain ample compensation with him getting the vote ahead of Russian Symphony and Equuleus Pictor. The last mentioned was good value for his win at Yarmouth in May but has disappointed in two starts off his new mark in subsequent outings at Sandown and here at Newbury so John Spearing's gelding may have to settle for minor honours again. Smokin Beau ran better at Kempton last time and has every chance if able to reproduce the form back on turf, while Pic Up Sticks is capable but has struggled of late and looks best watched. Charlie Egerton's Russian Symphony showed improved form at Great Leighs towards the end of May on his first start since January and looks well treated for his return to turf so he has to be considered but Kelamon has solid claims and he is hard to oppose.
