Alan King has won two of the last three renewals so Salden Licht has to be of interest but the Henderson yard is in better form so preference is for OSRIC whilst Very Edgy also hails from another in-form stable. The last named has had two runs in bumpers and shown a decent level of form in that sphere, particularly when making Henry Hook work hard at Kempton. He should be able to jump a hurdle in time and can give a good account. Salden Licht is a potentially high class recruit as he was rated in the mid-nineties when last seen in action on the level for James Eustace. He appeared to handle soft ground on the level well enough and has to be on the short-list. Osric is related to a winner in this sphere and has joined a yard that has already sent out nine winners from just twenty eight runners this month and that swings the vote in his favour whilst Nicky Henderson has been responsible for two of the last ten winners of this heat. Forget It and Uffa Fox have already shown ability over hurdles whilst Nice One Eric ran better than his finishing position at Ascot suggests and he can be expected to improve. Paul Webber is another trainer enjoying a purple patch so his pair need to be monitored along with Latest Dream but the vote goes the way of Osric.
