Verdict

Unex Renoir has proved disappointing while Aldwick Bay looks held by Mountain Range on their run together at Sandown in July. The latter may not have stayed 1m4f at Newmarket last month and should do better here. Viking Storm hasn't done a lot wrong since winning at Folkestone in the spring and should be thereabouts again, while old-timer Foxhaven still retains plenty of ability. SHUBAAT hasn't been seen more than a year but it's interesting that Roger Varian is persisting with him this late in the season. The four-year-old still has plenty of scope and, as he won on his debut last year, the long break may not be as much of a disadvantage as one might imagine - he gets a speculative vote.
