Frith took on good company last season and can open his account, with Wild Savannah, Awash and and Meggido likely to give him most to do. Frith was highly tried as a youngster and lined up against Motivator in the Racing Post Trophy, in which he was last of eight. He was not totally disgraced though, and on the strength of earlier efforts it will not be long before he loses his maiden tag. Wild Savannah was fancied at Goodwood last time but was one-paced behind Unfurled and might already need further. Awash makes his debut for Henry Cecil but on breeding is not guaranteed to get the trip so is best watched for the time being. Marcus Tregoning won this last year and saddles Meggido who shaped well behind Coup d'Etat at Kempton. Princelet comes from an in-form stable and should be noted in the market, but Frith sets the standard so is the pick in the finale.
