Verdict

Although 17 runners have been declared for this handicap it may not be as competitive as the numbers suggest with many of the participants out of form and the vote goes to recent Folkestone winner Coppington Flyer, who gets the nod over Patandon Girl and Captain Hardy. The selection landed a gamble when winning that Folkestone contest and, although twice beaten since, there are solid claims for believing that she can win again. Good ground was against the daughter of Eagle Eyed at Newbury on her first start off her new mark and the three-year-old ran much better when third at Lingfield last time. Dropped 1lb since and with ground conditions to suit, she looks the one to be on. Patandon Girl has been a model of consistency this term but is not certain to appreciate the longer trip today and a bigger danger to the selection may come from Captain Hardy. He too has yet to show that he gets this trip but has given every indication that it will suit. Estrella Levante is less exposed than most but has a long absence to overcome, a comment that also applies to Burley Firebrand.
