Verdict

There could well be more Classic clues in the finale at 5:20 as Sir Michael Stoute's Hasanpour puts his Vodafone Derby credentials on the line. The Aga Khan's colt made his debut at Leicester last September in a five-runner affair that was run at a crawl. He did well in the circumstances to finish second and will relish the step up in trip. the son of Dr Devious has already been pencilled in for the Dante so defeat here will be a bit of a let-down. Westmoreland Road shaped well enough at Goodwood last term without looking anything special, while Sentry may be one to make his mark in handicaps. Almizan holds no special entries, but Syncopation is well regarded, being a half-brother to 1m2f winners Anamore and Monolith. The dam is a French middle-distance winner and grand-daughter of Irish 1,000 Guineas and Yorkshire Oaks winner Sarah Siddons.
