Gulf Express can give Sir Michael Stoute another Newbury winner, with Shake On It and King Charles also on the short-list. Gulf Express is out to get the losses back here after his defeat at the hands of Pippa Greene over the course-and-distance three weeks ago. He tracked the leader throughout that day, but ran out of steam in the rain-softened ground, and will be a more potent force now, especially with that first outing since June under his belt. Unlucky-in-running in the Brittannia at Royal Ascot, he looks all set to make belated amends. Shake On It has done nothing but improve, and made his first attempt at 10-furlongs a winning one on the Turf course at Lingfield eight days ago, for which he carries a 6lb penalty. He looks the best of Eve Johnson-Houghton's pair, while of the rest the consistent King Charles makes some appeal, although he is yet to score over today's trip. Noticeable is on a fair mark now and will maybe act better than he did round Chester last time, but he and the rest make far less appeal than Gulf Express.
