In depth

Verdict

Aidan O'Brien has two entries with the newcomer Dunkirk Harbour of interest as he's by Declaration Of War out of a mare from a top-class family. Empire State cost $275,000 and made a fair debut at Dundalk in May but finished lame when strongly supported at Cork a couple of weeks later. He's been given time to recover and is an obvious contender though CLASHANISKA made such a promising start at the Curragh that he looks the one to beat. Gordon Elliott's Dark Angel colt was a 25/1 that day but belied the odds with a cracking effort, taking up the running at the furlong pole before being run out of it close home. He'll have come on a bundle for the experience and should see off the more experienced Sevenaday, who just failed to stay an extended 7f in a Tipperary claimer. De Latour and Eclipse Storm, the latter a speedily-bred son of Dream Ahead, are newcomers to note.
