In depth

Verdict

Leading owner J P McManus has five entered in this competitive handicap. Mark Walsh has opted for The Big Lense, who has won over 2m4f but looked as though he needed further than this at Fairyhouse last time. Hareth is always likely to spring a surprise and he's just 3lb higher than his last winning mark while Count Simon has been extremely consistent at maiden and novice level and makes his handicap debut. MOUNT PELIER gave supporters of the heavily-backed From Eden a scare at Navan last week and, though up 3lb, Alan Fleming's charge has plenty of scope and can go one better. West Coast Time was having his first start since June when a cracking second to Smoking Gun at Gowran and wouldn't need much more to get into contention while Sayar landed a Grade 3 novices' contest in 2017 and is much better than we saw at Leopardstown last month. Jimmy Breekie's last three runs have been in very strong handicaps and he hasn't been beaten far.
