In depth

Verdict

Compton Ford shapes as if he needs more time and so preference is for Eldorado Days whose run behind Viva Ronaldo looks solid. Only beaten by three lengths at York, the selection will be handicapped after this start but he looks ready to win now. This son of Elusive City is related to several winners and whilst he may need further in time, he is of interest here with Robert Winston taking over in the saddle. Expect improvement from Mintoe who shaped with promise at York on debut and the form was franked on Friday by the winner Wildcat Wizard. Mesyaal has shown promise in two runs to date, and was well-fancied last time out at Bath. Newcomer Wee Bizzom doesn't really catch the eye, so Visterre may be a more feasible danger. This better ground should show Bryan Smart's runner in a better light, however it is Eldorado Days who receives the nomination.
