Verdict

This looks set to go the way of Rose D'April, who will be well suited by the step up in trip. He is a fine big horse who will jump fences in time, but he has been found an easy opening here and he should make no mistake. The first time visor may bring about improvement from High Peak, but his overall profile doesn't exactly inspire. The main threat may come from Great Oaks, who should do better now he steps into handicap company for the first time. Although he is nine, he is lightly raced and may well be open to some improvement. Monty's Quest has obviously been difficult to train, but he does have ability, as he showed when not beaten far by the useful Run For Paddy at Uttoxeter back in 2000. Off the course for nearly two years, he should strip fitter for this outing.
