In depth

Verdict

Not much strength in depth to this ordinary affair and Solomon's Mine is taken to score for the second time in the space of a week. The Mark Polglase-trained gelding was a thoroughly convincing three-length winner against useful staying handicappers at Doncaster last Friday and may prove up to defying a 6lb penalty such was the manner of victory. Broughton Zest looked unlucky not to prevail when finding trouble in running before a staying-on runner-up over a mile-and-a-half at Town Moor and will pose a big threat over this longer trip. Whistling Dixie represents the same yard that took this event twelve months ago and has claims on the pick of last season's form while Toni Alcala has been knocking on the door of late and is not without claims off his current mark.
