    Verdict

Capefly can make the most of the weight that he receives from Hamish McGonagall, with Firewalker the other main contender. Jamie Spencer is back from suspension today, and with Seb Sanders breathing down his neck in the battle for the title, he is sure to be involved in a few finishes today surely. His first mount is Capefly for Paul Cole in this class 5 maiden that revolves around the three runners mentioned earlier. Capefly is a half-sister to Mashaahed, so should be blessed with a fair amount of stamina, but up to now she has been dropped back in trip to the minimum, and hopefully will benefit from the assistance of Spencer in the plate for the first time. She did show amazing speed for most of the way at Bath a fortnight ago, and with a little more restraint, can beat the more experienced Hamish McGonagall to the punch. The latter has gone close on a few occasions already, but the concession of 5lb to the selection may prove beyond him. Even so, the York runner-up should strip fitter than Firewalker, who has been absent since chasing home Mazzanti on softer ground here back in June. Capefly has already shown a glimpse of her speed, and is taken to open her account today with conditions to suit.
