Verdict
Rigat has leading claims and gets the vote over Living On A Prayer, with Desert Hawk also worth a mention. With experienced pilot Simon Walker on board, hopes are high that the well-handicapped Rigat can gain a second career victory. Successful over seven-furlongs at Thirsk last July, he has struggled since and has come down the weights to the tune of around 20lb. The David Barron-trained four-year-old proved that he could stay this sort of trip when third to Star Of Angels over it at Catterick nine-days ago, and as that represents the best recent form on offer, he looks the one to beat. Living On A Prayer drops back in trip here, and steps up in grade, so it is hard to fancy this all-weather winner strongly, but she in turn appears best of the remainder. Desert Hawk has bags of experience, but both the trip and ground are a slight worry, so he too is overlooked, with preference much for Rigat.
