Verdict

Khanjar, Master Marvel, Par Indiana and Skibereen are shortlisted in this maiden stakes with Master Marvel given the tentative nomination. The selection hails from the Mark Johnston yard and shaped well on his debut behind Gatwick at Doncaster. He is sure to come on for the run and this looks a decent opportunity for him to lose his maiden tag. Khanjar will give him the most to do as he has caught the eye on all of his runs to date. He is an attractive colt who will win races, but he is narrowly passed over here in favour of our selection. Par Indiana is making her turf debut but she could go well as she has run with credit on both her outings on the all-weather at Wolverhampton so far. Skibereen ran above expectations at Nottingham when third behind Lawood, so he could be capable of going well. However, he could be vulnerable to a less-exposed type, and with plenty of scope for improvement after a promising debut, Master Marvel is put forward as the one to beat.
