Verdict

Sarraf is given the narrow vote ahead of Brief Goodbye and Cool Temper in this class D handicap. The gelding from the Ian Semple yard finished last season with a good effort at Catterick when a close second behind Nathan Brittles. Although he was penalised by the handicapper last season for a string of consistent efforts, he has shown steady improvement, is proven over this course and distance and is therefore put forward as the one to beat. Brief Goodbye rates the main danger as he still looks relatively unexposed, and with conditions to suit here he will not be far away at the finish. Cool Temper would certainly be competitive here on the pick of his form and he has shown enough on the all-weather over the winter to suggest he may be capable of hitting top gear first time out back on the turf. Of the rest, Repulse Bay would need slightly further to be shown in his best light, and for the winner we return to Sarraf.
