In a weak looking contest, Cosmic Case is a tentative selection over Pont Neuf and Ellovamul. None of these have exactly been in sparkling form of late, but Cosmic Case does at least have a win at Ayr to her credit, albeit that she dead-heated with Toni Alcala. Since then Jim Goldie's mare has run three times at Hamilton without success but with Nicky Mackay taking over from an amateur, she should at least get a stronger ride. The mare is much higher-rated over hurdles, but should be involved over a trip that she appears to like on the Flat, given a strong pace. Pont Neuf showed her first worthwhile form when chasing home Bienvenue at Windsor, and with Kevin Darley up can make her presence felt, while Ellovamul, well beaten in amateur company at Yarmouth four days ago, needs to step up markedly to figure. However, Jim Goldie won this race 12 months ago with Gargoyle Girl and is selected to double up here with Cosmic Case.
