In depth

Verdict

Alugat has more to do under a 6lb penalty than when landing a Catterick handicap last time and may be best watched today in a race where the vote goes to potential improver How's She Cuttin' ahead of the Jim Goldie pair Strawberry Patch and Compton Classic. The last mentioned looks to be just about the pick of the two Goldie runners having run ahead second to George The Best at Ayr when last seen a month ago. A 3lb rise since then is perfectly fair and he makes more appeal than Controvento, who faces no easy task, at the other end of the handicap. The consistent Joyeaux has to be respected, while a market move for recent Catterick second Conjecture would be of interest. The vote though goes to David Barron's How's She Cuttin' who has progressed from banded stakes races into handicaps and remains open to further improvement on a surface that clearly suits.
