        In depth

        Verdict

        It's difficult to know exactly what to make of MASTERMIND but this is a very moderate race and he's one of the few with scope. A winner on his debut at Scottsville in March, he was then runner-up in a Group 2 there the following month and has now joined his stable's team here so he's handed the vote. Desuetude had dropped to a lowly mark when just touched off by today's rival Kilt Rock here in February so what he's doing on a 10lb higher mark is anyone's guess and the winner should have no problems confirming the form. Kanaf is a specialist on Dirt at Jebel Ali so would be better off on that surface and though Maltese Cat likes it around here he's shot up the ratings and is taking on better company than in his victory at Al Ain in November. Hattaash scored here a year ago but hasn't been seen since February while Spirit Of Battle hardly ever wins though generaly competes in better company.
