With very little experience on offer for this bumper, it should pay to side with those who are well regarded in this sphere. Mary Reveley sends down Our Ethel, the only winner in the field, who has been off the track for almost a year after being well beaten in her second start, at Cheltenham. Clearly, if she is firing on all cylinders she will be involved, but the long lay off plus a concession of 7lb all around means she is overlooked here. Paul Webber, whose yard have come back to form after a terrible spell earlier, also does well in bumpers. He saddles Queen's Banquet, who ran well enough on debut at Taunton to suggest that she will come on an put in a big showing here. With better ground also in the plus column, she is a tentative selection. Hughie Morrison's yard have come back to form and he saddles Miniature Rose. Another who should come on for her first run, when beaten nine lengths by the useful Royal Rosa at Newbury, a win here would be no surprise. Island Fortress also merits respect, while Mrs Philip is the most interesting debutante, coming as she does from the Philip Hobbs yard. Any market confidence is likely to be significant.
