Conditions here should suit Marked Man, who returns after a three month break during the winter. A winner over 2m 4f at Aintree last time, he likes a sound surface, and though he has gone up 10lb for that three and a half length win, he has a feather racing weight here and can make that count and follow up. Mamideos started the season as he finished the last, with a win. That was on fast ground at Market Rasen in October, but he was very disappointing off this mark on his handicap debut at Sandown last time and despite more favourable conditions, he is perhaps best watched until returning to form. Clever Thyne looks the most interesting of the remainder. The gelding should certainly appreciate the good ground and has already been around course and distance when placed on his last two starts. A 4lb drop here will undoubtedly help him and he can put in a very good showing. Arctic Sky will have his supporters, coming from the Nicky Henderson yard, who do so well here. However he has been set a stiffish task off 103 on his handicap debut and although he should give a good account he could not be backed with lots of confidence, unless the market indicates otherwise.
